Works on all Macs with an Intel Processor (MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac, iMac Pro, etc) 🤍 According to Apple: NVRAM (nonvolatile random-access memory) is a small amount of memory that your Mac uses to store certain settings and access them quickly. PRAM (Parameter RAM) stores similar information, and the steps for resetting NVRAM and PRAM are the same. Settings that can be stored in NVRAM include sound volume, display resolution, startup-disk selection, time zone, and recent kernel panic information. The settings stored in NVRAM depend on your Mac and the devices that you're using with your Mac. If you experience issues related to these settings or others, resetting NVRAM might help. For example, if your Mac starts up from a disk other than the one selected in Startup Disk preferences, or a question mark icon briefly appears before your Mac starts up, you might need to reset NVRAM. According to Apple: How to reset PRAM/ NVRAM Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. You can release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart. On Mac computers that play a startup sound, you can release the keys after the second startup sound. On Mac computers that have the Apple T2 Security Chip, you can release the keys after the Apple logo appears and disappears for the second time. When your Mac finishes starting up, you might want to open System Preferences and adjust any settings that were reset, such as sound volume, display resolution, startup disk selection, or time zone. Learn more If you're using a desktop Mac instead of a notebook, and settings such as sound volume or time zone are reset every time you shut down and unplug your Mac, you might need to replace the battery inside your Mac. This small battery is on your computer's logic board, and it helps NVRAM retain settings when your Mac is unplugged. You can take your Mac to an Apple service provider to replace the battery. If you experience issues with sleep, wake, power, charging your Mac notebook battery, or other power-related symptoms, you might need to reset the SMC (System Management Controller). If your Mac is using a firmware password, this key combination does nothing or causes your Mac to start up from macOS Recovery. To reset NVRAM, first turn off the firmware password.

A Non-volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM Reset) can be a great remedy to fix you Macbook (Pro and Air), iMac, Mac Pro or Mac Mini. Press COMMAND+OPTION+P+R keys immediately after pressing the power button, before the screen goes grey. Keep holding down the 4 keys until the screen goes black again, then you can let go. The system will reboot it self and the NVRAM has now been reset. The NVRAM is in charge of four main jobs on most Macs 2008 and up: Location and Boot Drive Priority System Startup Resolution System Startup Volume System Startup Clock Value All though reseting the NVRAM has been know no cure other issues, an NVRAM reset is the best know cure for the “Flashing Question Mark Folder” the reset allows the system to find the first bootable hard drive and boot right into it. PRAM or NVRAM stands for parameter random access memory or Non-Volatile RAM. PRAM or NVRAM essentially stores information about your Mac’s control settings and is powered by a battery to ensure that your settings remain the same even if you turn your computer off.Modern Macs no longer use PRAM; they instead use something called NVRAM (NV for non-volatile). NVRAM serves approximately the same purpose as PRAM, but instead of storing a dozen or more pieces of information, it now contains just a few: your selected startup disk, speaker volume, screen resolution, time zone, and—if your Mac has crashed recently—details of the last kernel panic. Steps : 1.Shut down your Mac. 2.Press the Power Button, and as soon as you power up the laptop(no need to hold power button). 3.Hold down Command-Option-P-R. Sometimes your Mac doesn't start up or opens up with an error or Bluetooth doesn't work, Airport won't connect, etc. and some of these issues can be fixed in just 1 minute. What you have to do is just reset PRAM or NVRAM. It is safe to do and easy to do and quick as well. It also resets and fixes minor issues. So, I suggest you do it once a year at least.
