I thought this task was hard but it was dead easy for me and i'm sure you can do it too. EGR Valve carried a p0401 fault and it seems a lot of carbon deposits needed to be cleaned out using an EGR cleaner. Once reinstalled after deep cleaning, if the engine light doesn't go off then clear it using the mobile app , once cleared wait to see if it develops again in a few days or weeks. If it's the same problem you can carry out another clean or raise it up with a mechanic. I know I'm jumping around but it will all become clear in the end, I hope. This is once again that same Accord that I worked on but this time I focus on cleaning the EGR passages. Over time these passages become clogged with what is called "hard carbon deposits", many speculate as to the origins of this material but it is in my opinion the product of condensation and carbon buildup inside these passages that seems to contribute to this problem. The fix is pretty straight forward as you can see but the diagnosis can be tricky at times. Sometimes the check engine light will come on for an EGR flow code, but on earlier models EGR flow is not detected by the ECU and in those cases it might manifest as a failure of an emissions test for high NOx emissions. When this is the case the symptoms sometimes include, surging on the highway or a misfire under load. For the most part EGR's are easy to check but there are some EGR systems that are very difficult to service and repair. Here is a other archived video I found of my old 2004 Honda Accord V6 6-speed. I taped this video sometime in 2017, shortly before I ended up getting rid of it. The car struggled with a rough idle when coming to a stop, and this issue eventually got worse to a point where it struggled to rev and would die when coming to a spot without applying half of the throttle.

Пришло время замены клапана EGR. Выдает ошибку P0404 или P0400! Хороший способ проверки: Новый EGR подключаем к разъёму, заводим машину, газуем и смотрим как он работает, после делаем так со своим. Мой слегка реагировал на поднятие оборотов двигателя - не открывался до конца. Клапан плавно должен открываться с поднятием оборотов мотора - мой просто дергался на 1мм и все. А вот подключая к 12в на прямую он собака открывался на полную. При покупки б/у EGR, не снимая старого, цепляем новый к разъему, газуем и смотрим на него. Сразу становится ясно - рабочий он или нет. This is how to clean your car EGR valve and afterwards, electronic EGR valve testing to confirm cleaning. Essentially, this video also covers how to test electronic EGR valves or how to test an electronic EGR valve, with the test case being Honda EGR valves. This is a follow-up video to 🤍 where I first found out that the opening and closing times of the EGR valve were out of specification. Interestingly, I have no check engine light.
