I would like to precise that my computer is very much capable of running an XP VM and that the recording software didn't hinder the output sound in any way, this is not a performance problem (it is, but not in the way that my system is at fault) the glitchy audio causes slow downs in games, even extremely old ones. Oh, and Die Hard Trilogy still makes windows BSOD under VMWare. (tested with a real computer some time ago. it worked fine.)

Since VMWare Workstation/Player 8, on all Windows versions after Windows 7 (not including 7), a bug has risen that Windows XP guests cannot produce sound very clearly unless Windows Media Player is running. This is the solution to the problem! Download: 🤍

Hello all, Most of us have tried to play to audio files in their virtual machines hosted either on VMWare or Hyper-V however were unable to play it. I too tried the same and was hit with this error. "windows media player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device" Trust me it is really very easy to fix the above error before you start playing audio within your vms. Since there is no support for the hardware of an old system you set up with VMware Workstation 16 Pro, you need to reduce the hardware compatibility of the virtual machine. To install #Audio and #USB drivers on the #Windows98 virtual machine, download the necessary drivers from our article and then follow these steps. Step 1: First of all, turn off the VM you set up with the IDE virtual disk type and click on the VM / Manage / Change Hardware Compatibility option from the menu. Step 2: Select Workstation 15.x for Win98 in the hardware compatibility window, and in the next step, check the Alter this virtual machine option and complete the conversion process. Step 3: When you run the virtual machine when some hardware is found automatically, select the CD-ROM to install their drivers and install the relevant drivers from the Win98 ISO. Step 4: Although all drivers appear to be installed on your system, the audio device will not be working. So, install the Creative Ensoniq driver and reboot your system. Also, to fix the Waveset problem, copy the file named Eapci8m to the System location in Windows and then open the Device Manager and select the MIDI setting as 8 MB in the Create Sound device settings. Step 5: After restarting your system, install USB Mass Storage Controller and then insert your USB flash memory into your VM. At this stage, the add new hardware wizard will open and use the location where you extracted the USB driver files in the wizard to install the driver for the corresponding hardware. I will demo how we move Virtual Machines in a VMware vsphere 6 environment in the IBM SoftLayer cloud. We will move VM’S from a SoftLayer Datacenter in London to SoftLayer Datacenter in Amsterdam. The long distance VMmotion is a migration of a Webserver while we are actually accessing the website from a workstation in the same environment.
