In Part 4 of our MK3 fast and furious Jetta build, we try and start up our MQB MK7 2.0T in our Jetta for the first time! Once we get this car running, we can then disassemble it to get it ready for paint. Before taking it to get painted, we stopped by Merrit Motor Company to get our Jetta dry ice blasted! This process cleans off all dirt and debris that have been on the car for 30 years! We then took it over to D&B Custom Paint and Body to get this car looking like new again with a fresh coat of white paint! There are many things to contemplate when starting with an engine swap. Things like axle angle, custom engine mounts, engine tilt, clearance, and much more have to be considered. In this video, we inspect a Volkswagen CC purchased on Facebook Marketplace for $1,200 that claimed to have a blown head gasket. However, the car turned out to have a hail-damaged hood and roof, a missing tail light cover, and so much more. Although the car smokes while running, which may indicate a blown head gasket, the smoke smells weird and gross instead of sweet, which is what would happen if the car had a blown head gasket. We are on our last few days to try and finish this car so we can drive it home. We are on a journey of taking a 1984 VW Scirocco driving it on an 1100 mile road trip and swapping the engine in the process. in our last two episodes, we picked up the Scirocco and drove it to Florida. We pulled the old CIS Engine and cleaned up the engine bay. We then dropped the new VR6 Engine in worked hard to do the first start-up. The car would not start and we finally diagnosed it as a bad starter. Today we get a new starter and try to start the car for the first time. We then deal with problem, after problem, after problem. In this video we talk about how much you should pay for your VW or Audi DSG service and How to do a MK7 DSG Service. Instead of just a normal build series, I wanted to give myself a real challenge. I wanted to buy a stock 37 year old VW pick it up, drive it 500 miles, swap the engine in 2.5 days then drive 630miles home. I also have a tight window because I have a family vacation at the end of the week. We purchased a 1984 VW Scirocco for our VR6 swap, but most often VW enthusiasts would engine swap a MK1 or MK2, Jetta or Rabbit. Timing Chains have been an issue for the 2.0t TSI VW and Audi engines. We install Super Pro Caster Control arms on our MK7 Alltrack. This video is specific to the Alltrack but would be similar or the same on MQB models. Adding caster to your car pushes the wheel forward in the wheel well. This improves stability and steering feel while driving. There are many European models that we don’t get in the US that we drool over. One of them is the Clubsport GTI. The first Clubsport GTI was introduced in 2016 and is a GTI with upgraded everything. They have the same engine found in Golf R models, and the Clubsport S, set a world record for the fastest FWD car around the Nurburg ring. For MK8 the Clubsport GTI isn’t much different, it gets an Upgraded engine, exhaust, and even exterior parts. While we can't get a Club Sport MK8 GTI in the US you can retrofit parts like this! We imported a Club Sport MK8 GTI Front Bumper from Europe to see if it would fit on our US Spec MK8 GTI. We also see if it's possible to keep the X pattern Foglights from our original bumper!
