This part is the MC68KC05K1, and 8-bit MCU from Motorola. It happens to have a silicon doodle of grasshopper (or similar type of bug) on it. Not surprisingly, this isn't the first hardware bug that I've seen. Music Credits: Artist: 🤍Lofi Lia Song: Mario Paint - Creative Exercises (Lofi Lia Remix) 🤍
It's a Hardware Bug and I can Prove It - Kris Chaplin, Altera The divide between software and hardware is becoming more blurred - especially with programmable hardware. When a bug strikes, we can sometimes be left in doubt as to root cause, and who is to blame! There is more need for visibility to co-debug embedded systems - especially when both hardware and software are being developed concurrently. In this presentation and live demonstration, Kris Chaplin will show debugging techniques that leave the user in no doubt as to where the issue is - hardware or software. The root cause will be revealed using some simple tools that allow us to literally single step and set common breakpoints not only in software but also hardware! About Kris Chaplin Kris is an Embedded Technology Specialist for Intel working with major Military, Industrial and Communications customers in Northern Europe. He has 15 years of experience architecting and bringing up embedded processor systems (soft and hard) running Linux in FPGAs having supported and sold them for both major FPGA vendors. Kris has a BEng(Hons) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton.
There is a certain path that causes Windows to bluescreen, I demonstrate it in this video on 3 different computers! I also showed on a VM how I created the zip file, and a few other methods of triggering this BSOD! Also this only works on Windows 10 version 1709 and up. This bug should be patched soon by Microsoft and other programs. Also please do not abuse this as BSODing Windows can corrupt things. I was going to make a video on this a week ago but I have been too busy with school stuff. Anyways thanks for watching the video! UPDATE: This bug has been patched on 2/9/2021, so update your Windows! Article about the bug: 🤍

iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro have a big problem that effectively makes the camera useless in third-party apps. iPhone 14 Pro users are hoping it to be a software problem that could be fixed with a software update. And it seems, that is exactly the case. The camera rattling issue is caused by software and Apple will issue an update to fix it on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max by next week. It would make my day if you could also follow me on: Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Music used: 'beatsbyNeVs-Ridin' 🤍 🤍 For Business Inquiries: saleemkarnachi🤍gmail.com

Your important data—passwords, photos, e-mails and instant messages—are at risk because of a design flaw in Intel's processor chip. The flaw leaves your personal devices vulnerable to attack. Fixing the flaw could result in your system slowing down as much as 30 percent. The security flaws are called Meltdown and Spectre. Paul Wagenseil of Tom's Guide said Meltdown is a deeply buried problem that affects virtually every Intel-based computer made in the past 20 years. And Spectre affects every smartphone or tablet out there today. We're talking billions of devices—computers, smartphones, tablets and even the cloud. It also extends to other technologies that use Intel chips, such as like medical equipment. The U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team explained that these flaws allow an attacker to access sensitive information. It happens through a back channel long known to security experts. The difference now is that these same experts have realized how those channels can be exploited. So they alerted Intel, Google, Apple, and Microsoft in the hopes that these tech giants could create a patch before bad actors take advantage of the vulnerability. The tech giants have been working on these fixes for the better part of a year. All of the patches should be out next week. The only thing you can do to protect yourself is to update the operating system on your device. And you may need to do that more than once because Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Intel will continue to release new fixes as new information about these flaws emerges. Three separate class-action lawsuits have been filed by plaintiffs in California, Oregon, and Indiana seeking compensation. All three cite the security vulnerability and Intel's delay in public disclosure. And this is important to know: security flaws in processor chips are unusual. TERESA PRIOLO
This bug is similar to the BSOD one. Instead of a BSOD, it makes Windows think the file system is corrupted and causes it to run a check disk! I show it on real hardware on 3 different systems, as well as the ways that this can be triggered! Microsoft is in the process of working on a patch, so this should be fixed soon! Also be careful with this as I am not responsible for any damage done if you try this. Sometimes check disk can be a bit weird, as you will see in the video. Anyways thanks for watching the video and more to come soon! Article talking about the bug: 🤍

You think about securing your laptop, but what about your desk phone, monitor, or printer? In the second episode of Can I Hack It?, made possible by Mr Robot on Amazon Prime, white hat hacker Ang Cui demonstrates hacks on “embedded devices”—objects that contain computing systems but that you wouldn’t necessarily think of as computers. At his office in New York, Cui shows us how he can turn an office phone or printer into a bugging device using a piece of malware he calls “funtenna.” This exploit makes the equipment transmit data over radio frequencies so it can be picked up by an antenna—without the hacker ever having to go near the device. It’s a pretty high-level hack, but as Cui says, if he’s thought of it, you can imagine someone else has. We bought this electric keyboard from MercadoLibre (Argentina) for our kids to play and learn basic piano but found this bug when using it to learn piano with an iOS app that listens to you as you play and corrects you if you are playing the wrong notes, after not understanding why my kids and I where failing on some notes I found out the reason. Basically when having to play more than 2 notes at the same time, some of the keyboard keys fail to play and make a buzzing sound, and also, when the third key is released, the keyboard plays one of the other two being pressed keys.

I was just testing my recently build T-38 controls in the living room and the transmitter worked fine. Then I removed the prop from the plane, because it needed to be balanced. It took about 10 mins, and I realized that I had left the transmitter on. I switched it OFF, then checked the balance of the prop one more time and attached it back to the plane. Next, I switched the transmitter ON and connected battery to the plane's esc. Immediately the servos went to extreme positions and esc started to beeb. When I took a look at the transmitter, I saw random characters on the display. Rebooting the transmitter did not help.

That list hasn't evolved since 2017, but they want people to give them feedback on what should be considered high priority in terms of free software for the years to come. 🤍 Mint added Chromium back to their repos, as a regular package. Mint had lost easy access to Chromium when Ubuntu transitioned it to a snap package, since Mint refused to ship any snaps, or Snapd, and even prevented its installation. 🤍 Dell is working on a hardware privacy driver for the Linux kernel. Beginning in their 2021 laptops, they'll ship physical buttons to disable the mic and the camera, and since Dell ships some laptops with Linux preinstalled, they're also working on the necessary driver to handle these switches. 🤍 In a move that will probably make some people mad for no well explained reason, Dolphin, the KDE file browser, will add opt in telemetry. 🤍 A member of the KDE team published a very interesting article on the Wayland migration, and it has interesting insight. 🤍 Getting Things GNOME is working on fixing the biggest annoyance people had with it, after its complete redesign using GTK3, and that's the ability to sync your tasks with Caldav. 🤍 KDE is working on a redesign of their system monitor, and it looks great. It uses nice charts and graphs to let you get a bird's eye view of how your system is running, and it uses unified code with the system monitor plasma widgets. 🤍 OpenRazer got a new release. If you don't know about it, it's a collection of drivers to use your razer gear on Linux. 🤍 If you're looking for a device shipping with Linux by default, System76 has a sale running until January the 4th. 🤍 More news from the KDE side, as they announced their version of the Pinephone, the KDE Community edition. It's the latest version of that mobile device, and runs KDE Plasma Mobile, obviously. 🤍 VKD3D-proton, the VKD3D fork made to work specifically with Proton, has seen a new release, version 2.0. 🤍 Wine 5.21 released. It converted more libraries to the PE format, added more fixes to windowless richedit, and updated timezone code. 🤍 Proton 5.13-2 is now available, with a bunch of fixes. It also includes version 2.0 of VKD3D Protin which we just talked about. With that nex release, you'll get fixes for RIsk of Rain 2, Killer Instinct, Games not launching with Uplay connect or Origin after updating, Mount and Blade 2 bannerlord, Warhammer 40K Inquisitor, and Middle Earth Shadow of war. It should be noted that using VKD3D proton brings a few issues, especially the fact that controler hot plugging doesn't work, and Vulkan layers like Vkbasalt or MangoHud won't start. 🤍

Finding vulnerabilities in embedded device firmware and hardware has historically been a slow and laborious process requiring security researchers to drink too much coffee while staring at a disassembler. While we will not attempt to solve the coffee problem, there are now tools and techniques to help those either new to embedded systems or those trying to scale up their bug finding to help automate vulnerability identification in firmware and hardware. In this talk, we will provide an introduction to embedded bug classes and where they are most often seen. We will show today’s most common methods to find these bugs and why they are inadequate for today’s necessary scale. We will demonstrate some of the best uses of open source tools for finding firmware vulnerabilities and then demonstrate the types of vulnerabilities that can be found in an automated fashion. We will do the same for basic hardware vulnerabilities, and show a new open source tool to assist with debug port glitching to gain a shell on a device. Example targets will include routers, IP cameras, and others. Attendees will learn the more about embedded hardware and firmware vulnerabilities and leave with tools and techniques to allow them to find these themselves in targets of their choosing.
