#flinflon Information within wikipedia.org: Flin Flon (pop. 5,185 in 2016 census; 4,982 in Manitoba and 203 in Saskatchewan) is a mining city in Canada. It is located on a correction line on the Manitoba and Saskatchewan border, with the majority of the city located within Manitoba. Flin Flon was founded in 1927 by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting (now Hudbay) to exploit the large local copper and zinc ore resources. In the late 1920s, HBM&S invested in a railway, mine, smelter, and a hydroelectric power plant at Island Falls, Saskatchewan. By 1928, the rail line reached the mine. The town grew considerably during the 1930s as those impoverished by the Great Depression came to work at the mines. A significant number of farmers abandoned their farms and were amongst those looking for work. The municipality was incorporated on January 1, 1933, and reached city status in 1970. The city has continued to be a mining centre with the development of several mines adding to its industrial base, although its population has been in decline since the 1960s. With a scenic setting and a number of nearby lakes, Flin Flon has also become a popular tourist destination. I had hoped to achieve success with a flight earlier in the summer season but time was never on my side. I found some time recently and although it was not perfect with bright sunshine and blue skies I captured what I could with the free time I had. Drone Used: Mavic Air 2 ND Filter Used: None. Our winter season here in Northern Manitoba Canada seems to have arrived earlier than other past years. I have decided that regardless of there being snow snd colder than expected temps I will still find time for a winter adventure. This winter flight of Flin Flon Manitoba Canada is my second winter flight with the DJI Mini 3 pro. Note: In a few of my previous aerial videos of Flin Flon I have flown over and captured scenes of a location in the city that at one time had an iconic blue water tower. It had stood in that location and for many years. (Over 70 years I believe in some form or another. It was at one time red and white checkerboard patterns on it. Before it was demolished it had been updated years back with a blue facade and Flin Flon in white lettering was on it. Sadly due to age and not being in use anymore it was demolished. It really changes that area of Flin Flons landscape. I hope you all enjoyed the video I have created and I thank you for watching.
I have flown here before and from a very similar flight location to capture Flin Flon Manitoba in the mid to late fall season. My child had an activity in Flin Flon that gave me about 30 minutes or so of free time so I went and captured some footage/photos of the area close to me. I really wish the sun would have stayed out more and given me some better lighting but I did what I could with what I had. Except taken from the 🤍 website. The City of Flin Flon is a unique northern-urban community with a trading area. The City of Flin Flon can boast a wide array of amenities, such as The Flin Flon Tourist Park and Campground, Baker's Narrows Provincial Park, a number of fine restaurants, nightspots, scenic trails, boardwalk, golf course, lakes and so much more. Flin Flon is a thriving northern community and vacationer’s dream destination nestled in the middle of nature's magnificence. Located north of the 54th parallel of latitude, the City of Flin Flon was built on old volcanic belt which gives the region a beautiful rocky landscape like no other.
