This tutorial will teach you how to build your first mobile application. It's aimed at experienced developers who are new to mobile. We'll start with a short tour of the anatomy of a mobile app – covering both the backend and frontend components. We'll pay particular attention to the data with Atlas in the backend, a Realm database embedded in the mobile app, and Realm Sync tying everything together. The bulk of the session will be devoted to a hands-on demonstration of building a simple chat app. The app lets users register, login and then join a chatroom of their choice. Once in a chat room, users can share messages with other members. We'll start by creating the Atlas cluster and backend Realm app. You then have the choice of following along with the coding and testing of either the Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift + SwiftUI) mobile app. By the end of the session, you'll have the skills to build this simple app for yourself, extend it to add new features and use it as the starting point for your own mobile apps.
