South Koreans hate Indians | This can't keep happening | World Affairs Files

Source- 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 when we look the racism of the british raj in india, The British rulers saw their Indian subjects as lower than subhuman and behaved accordingly. british People who lived in various regions of India formed their own private societies for themselves. In addition, the British people resided in areas that were specifically delimited for those with white skin, and no "native" people were permitted to access those areas. For instance, the habitation area in Calcutta was specifically separated into two halves, known as the "black" regions and the "white" areas, in a clear attempt to discriminate between the people of Indian descent and those of European descent. It was strictly forbidden for any person with dark complexion to access the zones that had been designated only for those with lighter skin. They went as far as putting up signs that said "Dogs and Indian Are Not Allowed." Now a similar occurrence Has occurred in South Korea, and in a video that was released by Raj Vatsa to his YouTube channel, we can see very clearly that a club in South Korea put up a sign that says men from Pakistan and India do not obey the rules, and as a result, they are allowed to enter their store. Please take a moment to watch this video clip before we go on. When Raj Vatsa went out on the town in Busan with friends who had travelled to meet him from New Delhi, he had no way of knowing that later that night he would wind up becoming the newest chapter in South Korea's national discussion over issues of race and inclusion. It's not that just one club wouldn't let them in; . In his video, Vatsa can be heard saying that he and his companions went to all of the local clubs that night and none of them gave them entry. Even Vatsa's wife, who is of Korean descent, was embarrassed after seeing the signs that said that people of Indian heritage were not permitted. In South Korea, this kind of prejudice has been institutionalized and accepted by society at large. Even though there was a sign posted by the club owner that made it quite evident that the club was a racist establishment, not a single South Korean attempted to help Raj Vatsa. It seems that the majority of people are OK with the prejudice that is directed on the people of India.

South Korea's Untouchable Families | Open Secrets

Open Secrets is a documentary series that looks at just this – secrets lived out in the open, things everyone knows about, but no one will talk about - until that moment when it becomes fully exposed to the world. Each episode visits a different country, looking at a single secret and exploring why the issue remained a secret for years despite existing out in the open. What has allowed these secrets to fester in the open for so long? For some, the reason is a risk, that blowing the whistle can be deadly. For others, it’s a privilege, that they benefited from the secret staying such for too long. This series is about the insurmountable control those in the corridors of power have in societies — till someone decides to risk it all to take them head-on. The Untouchable Chaebols of South Korea | Open Secrets

In this episode, we detail how Korea’s chaebols wield outsized power in this democracy, often to the point of outright corruption, monopolistic practices and labor violations. These include all the biggest names in Korean business like Samsung, Hyundai and SK Group. To outsiders, South Korea is a glitzy place, a modern Asian superpower, especially in the world of arts and culture. But domestically, it is home to a deep class divide. It’s the universal story of the have and the have-nots but in a place small enough that the impact of concentrating so much wealth and power in the hands of so few seem so much more obvious than in the US. Open Secrets is a documentary series that looks at just this – secrets lived out in the open, things everyone knows about, but no one will talk about - until that moment when it becomes fully exposed to the world. President Yoon says S. Korea should stop giving itself away to N. Korea

尹대통령 "北 퍼주기 중단 핵개발 상황선 단돈 1원도 못 줘" President Yoon Suk Yeol has stressed the need to reveal the reality of North Korea's human rights violations to the international community. Speaking in a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Yoon said disclosing the reality of the regime's human rights situation is very important to national security. He added that South Korea should stop giving itself away to the regime and that not a single penny should be given to Pyongyang if it continues to develop nuclear weapons. The remarks came after the Unification Ministry announced that it will release its North Korean human rights report to the public for the very first time this Friday. Both missiles appear to have landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, the Japanese government said. Monday’s launches came as the US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and ships from its accompanying strike group are scheduled to dock at a South Korean naval base in the southeastern port city of Busan.

U.S and South Korean forces conduct explosive joint landing drills

THE armed forces of the U.S and South Korean have conducted explosive joint landing drills amid growing world tensions. Amphibious armoured vehicles of the two countries, along with other naval ships, aircraft and helicopters joined the Ssangyong exercise off the coast of the eastern city of Pohang, which kicked off on March 20 and will last until April 3. The exercises follow the docking of a U.S. carrier strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz at South Korea's Busan naval base on Tuesday (March 28) morning after joint drills. It was the carrier's first visit in nearly six years and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-South Korea alliance. Also on Tuesday, North Korea unveiled new, smaller nuclear warheads and vowed to produce more weapons-grade nuclear material to expand its arsenal, state news agency KCNA reported. SOUTH KOREA-JAPAN | Have They Just Reset Relations?

Japan and South Korea have one of the most difficult relationships between partners in the modern international system. Despite being liberal democracies with advanced economies and sharing many close concerns and interests, the two countries have extraordinarily complex and challenging relations. However, a recent meeting between the South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol, and the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has raised hopes that the two countries may finally be about to open a new chapter in the relations. But as others have pointed out, their history is littered with similar "new starts". So, is this really different? The relationship between Japan and South Korea is still shaped by the brutal legacy of the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea. This lasted from 1910 until 1945 when Japan was defeated in the Second World War. During this period, Imperial Japan not only introduced a policy of assimilation but also made many men work as slave labour and forced tens of thousands of Korean women (along with women in many other Asian countries) into sexual slavery - the so-called "comfort women". This has had a lasting impact on bilateral ties. Despite later Japanese apologies, and even though the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1965, the Republic of Korea has long sought proper compensation for those affected. And even now, almost eighty years after the war's end, the occupation and the horrific acts of abuse that took place at the time are a lingering sore between these two countries. But can things finally change? *A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE CHANNEL SPONSOR* WORLD POLITICS REVIEW Providing in-depth news and expert analysis on global affairs to help make sense of the events and trends shaping our world. S. Korea reveals documented details of N. Korea's human rights situation for the first time

정부, '2023 북한인권보고서' 발간 대외 최초 공개 Good evening. It's 9:00PM here in South Korea. Thank you for joining us on Arirang News. For the very first time, the South Korean government has made public the details of North Korea's dire human rights violations. The 400-page report contains testimonies of how people on the other side of the Peninsula, even minors and pregnant women, have been deprived of their freedom to live, to relocate, and to express themselves. Our unification ministry correspondent Kim Mok-yeon leads our coverage tonight. The South Korean government is to reveal explicit details of North Korea's dire human rights situation to the public for the very first time. In a rare move, South Korea has shared the contents of a report detailing how the regime in the North have been abusing the rights of its people. The 4-hundred-page report includes vivid testimony from more than 500 North Korean defectors who came to South Korea from 2017 to 2022. The documents claim that people have been deprived of their rights to live, to chose their religion, and even to relocate. Also, accounts of public executions even for offenses the regime considers less serious. People have been sentenced to death for not following COVID quarantine rules or for watching or sharing content from South Korea. The regime has not spare women or even children. The situation was even worse for prisoners, many of whom are known to have died of malnutrition, overwork and physical assault. People's right to express their thoughts, their rights to privacy and to travel have also been violated due to strict surveillance. The authorities also conduct sudden checks on whether people are wearing the badges depicting North Korea's founder Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-un's father Kim Jong-il, and even monitor their phone conversations. Some details in the report have been pointed out in the past by private institutions and international organizations. But Seoul's Unification Ministry says the fact that they're in an official government document in South Korea is significant, because it reflects the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's determination to help improve such conditions. For the past 6 years, the annual report had been produced but not disclosed; this marks the first time that it's available to the public. "We hope that the release of the report will raise awareness of the situation in North Korea at home and abroad, and lead to stronger local, private and international cooperation aimed at promoting human rights in the regime." The ministry says it hopes the report will lead to change in the way North Korean authorities exert control, and vowed continued efforts to guarantee humane lives for the people in the North. The report was revealed to the press Thursday, and will be made accessible to the public from Friday. The government plans to release an English version of the report as soon as possible for international audiences.
