The software development industry wouldn't be where it is without the need for QA testers. A Quality Assurance Tester, or QA Tester, plays a vital role in the development process of any software application. They are responsible for evaluating the quality and usability of features that have already been developed by programmers. In short, it's their job to find bugs before it's too late! A Day In The Life Of A QA Tester As a QA Tester, I am responsible for creating tests and identifying bugs or issues with the software. I carry out tests before the software or product is actually launched to the public owner. Duties of a qa tester or quality assurance tester include using various methodologies e.g. agile methodology. What is agile methodology ? Well, it's the ability to break the application into smaller junks known as agile sprints. These are typically 2 weeks intervals and allows developers and for the qa tester to focus on these segments with the use of e.g a Kanban board. These are then all added together to form what is known as the software or product. So, a day in the life of a tester can vary from manual testing to automation testing or be filled with meetings. You'd be surprised to know that weekends especially Sundays, are not as typical as one would expect. As a quality assurance tester, there are few things to consider. One of the most important thing is carrying out Sunday prep for the week. These preparations can vary from cooking in bulk to learning Java coding best practices or even Python coding best practices. It could be refreshing your knowledge on software manual testing or completing a QA tester course, all as means of preparing your mind for an increased productivity during the week. Develop working from home routines to allow a organised environment as well as a focused mind.
